Our Volunteers

Are you looking for a place to belong and serve that truly matters? If so, you’ve found it! Our volunteers can participate as little or as much as their schedule allows. Some volunteers participate in everything we do. Some only come to our monthly meetings, while others have a veteran to two assigned to them and they keep in touch with them regularly. Still others only have time to help with fundraisers and events.  To whatever extent you are able to be involved, we will welcome you! And we promise--you will love EVERY MINUTE that you are able to spend with our heroes!

CO-FOUNDER & VOLUNTEER

Chris Batte has always had a reverent appreciation for our veterans. Chris felt a strong desire to show honor and appreciation to our senior veterans and so she decided to start Honoring Veteran Legacies.  Chris has stepped down as President of HVL, but she continues to volunteer for our nation’s heroes.

Erin Coggins

As an educator who has taught a World War II elective for 15 years, I have always made veterans a part of my curriculum. As a WWII researcher, I have always valued learning first hand what these men and women experienced. Browsing the internet one day, I came across a 1940's event that I knew I just had to attend. That event and meeting Chris Batte' led me to becoming a volunteer for Honoring Veteran Legacies. Volunteering with this organization had been a blessing in my life as well as the life of my husband, Jamie. From having these veterans as guests at my school's annual Veterans Day celebration to hearing their stories put into a song by a Nashville songwriter to celebrating birthdays marking 100 years or more...these are just some of the most gratifying experiences in our lives.
