Legacy

As time goes on, our senior veterans and the wars in which they fought seem more and more like ancient history. In fact, many high school students consider them to be ancient history and many curriculums don’t consider these wars to be essential learning. This could not be further from the truth!

Our senior veterans are walking primary resources and the lessons they have learned and the values they possess are badly needed in our schools. These heroes can share first-hand accounts to history! If students of today, as well as future generations, don’t learn where their freedom comes from and the price that was paid for it, we all may be doomed to repeat it. Honoring Veteran Legacies wants to help ensure that this doesn’t happen. We do our best to get our veterans into classrooms as much as possible and we are also working on a teacher resource website to help. You can see more on the website below.

What greater honor to a veteran than to have his/her legacy live on? Check below to see some more of our efforts to keep our heroes’ legacies alive!

the eternal salute

Coming soon to a school near you!

We are in the process of creating a teacher resource website with lesson plans. Each lesson will teach a state-mandated standard and also will include a short video of a veteran’s experience and testimony.  For example, an artillery expert that has used a 105mm Howitzer can share some of his story and a physics lesson can be taught on how to hit a target. In this way, the video can give the problem a real-world application for the students and at the same time, they can learn of a veteran’s sacrifices. The website will eventually house lessons to choose from in every subject and at every grade level! Its the next best thing to having them in the classroom!

Are you a senior veteran who would like to share your experiences and be a part of this program? Reach out to us!
